My hope is built on nothing less than Jesus Christ and righteousness- thus said Pastor Edward Mote when he reflected on the parable of the wise and foolish builders.
Whatever my lot, thou has taught me to say it is well with my soul; Christ has regarded my helpless estate and has shed his own blood for my soul; it is well- These were the words of Horacio Gates Spafford, lawyer and Presbyterian church elder, following the death of his four daughters.

Heb 11:1- faith defined: the substance of things hoped for; the evidence of things unseen.
Heb 11: 6b- because anyone who comes to Him (the Lord) must believe that He is, and He is a rewarder of them that earnestly seek him.
How you seek someone earnestly, without the certainty that they can help beats me.
I’ll tell you a story- There were two men, praying earnestly during a church vigil. They both needed money and prayed to God for help. The first man asked for a thousand dollars, the second needed a million dollars. But as they prayed, the first kept screaming and disturbing the prayer of the second. Now in what I believe to have been frustration, the second man stopped him, gave him a thousand dollars in order that he would go away and leave him to pray in peace, or perhaps so that God could now ‘hear’ him.

A young woman once dated a man she believed she loved. Of course, the man seemed to love her too. Then the man got tired of the relationship and this bothered the lady. She felt she had failed. She suffered depression and anguish and in her state, realised she could not punish the man as much as she believed he deserved. She was not strong enough, physically or emotionally; so she went down on her knees and wept in prayer. Till now, she’s unable to remember what exactly her prayer request was, but she knows she wanted him punished. As the days went by she noticed she no longer bothered about the young man suffering. He didn’t exist any longer. In her words, she could walk through him. She was finally free. Today, she is married to that young man and he’s better than she had hoped and prayed for while they dated. She is married to the only man she’s ever loved! She prayed for marriage when she had no suitor and in 8months she was married to the love of her life. I’m yet to speak with the man, but I’m told he believes he knew she was the one only after he left her for others. He adores her and insists he’d rather be lonely and sad than be with any other woman.

One of my friends, a doctor, insisted she could not be bothered about being a specialist. She would joke that if we heard she was a specialist, we should know that it was due to peer pressure. All she cared about was to get married and have children she would nurture. She got married but her husband was her worst nightmare. He cheated in her face and abused her verbally and emotionally. There was no use discussing kids as the man had made it clear that he was not ready. She developed a new prayer habit and got Christian books. She prayed that her husband would change but he only got worse. She was too embarrassed to discuss it with anyone so she only got closer to God in prayer. The hospital was now her haven, her escape. Once during one of the many duties she had taken from colleagues in order to keep herself busy, it happened. She was going to specialise in Child Medicine (Paediatrics). She is unable to describe the feeling she had that day, but she tells me there would have been a clear male voice from heaven speaking to her if it had been a movie- she was that certain about it. She knew her husband would kick against the idea but she was certain it was what she would do. She is almost done with her program now and already has two publications in her name. She is one of the most sought after, even though she is yet to pass out as a paediatrician. She blesses her husband every day when she ponders on what she wanted and how God is taking her closer to His grand plan for her life. Her husband is now her hero. Her marriage is better, she is a happy young lady, pregnant with her first child.

Isa 49:15 Can a woman’s tender care cease toward the child she bears? Yes she may, forgetful be, yet will I remember thee.
Matt 7:9- Which of you, if your son asked for bread will give him a stone?
Luke 11:11- Which of you fathers, if your son asks for fish will give him a snake?
If even humans know what is right for their children, how much more our Father in heaven. The One who knows the end from the beginning, the One who holds our lives in his hands, the One who is All-knowing and All-powerful, the One who is Everywhere!

The promises of the Lord are Yea and Amen. His word is life and is Spirit.
Heb 4:12- His word is alive and active, sharper than any double-edged sword; it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow and it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart (not the face or appearance😏).
It is this Word we have pondered on in bits and pieces. This Word that says ‘You May ask me anything in my name and I will do it’- Jn 14:14. The Word that says be anxious for nothing Phi 4:6 and in Mat 6:26-34- You of little faith; do not worry about tomorrow.
Therefore, considering where you began, where you came from and how far you have come, counting your blessings one by one, keep faith and hope alive and in prayer, trust the process the Lord takes you through to get to where you ought to be. It is done unless it is against His will.
